Carol Maluleke is a Henley Business School PhD student in the department of Leadership, Organisations, Behaviour and Reputation.
Her main research interests centre around the reputational impact of leaders and leadership teams on organisational outcomes, having led a case study of a non-profit organisation in South Africa. She specialises in exploring the impact of the reputation of leaders and leadership teams on organisational outcomes.
Carol is a seasoned communications and marketing executive, with solid exposure managing diverse stakeholders with a strong background and collective experience in numerous aspects of communication from top-level strategic, consulting and operational management backgrounds. She has 27 years of multifaceted experience working in challenging roles in the private and public sectors. Prior to embarking on her PhD journey, she was the Managing Director of Communications and Marketing at C Brand Communications, where she assisted various organisations in developing innovative, integrated marketing and communications strategies. In addition, Carol is the Founder and Managing Director of Mavuyisi Creative Projects, a youth development non-profit organisation that touches young lives and alleviates social ills through different creative projects, and serves as a board and committee member for various organisations.
Amongst others, her previous roles have included being Communications and Marketing Manager at the National Arts Council of South Africa, Communications Specialist at both Broken Hill Proprietary Billiton and the South African Local Government Association, Media and Communications Practitioner at the University of South Africa (UNISA) and Public Relations Intern at Gillian Gamsy International PR Agency. She is also an Accredited Public Relations Practitioner (APR), accredited by the Public Relations Institute of South Africa (PRISA) in 2022. Notably, in the five sectors that she has worked for, Carol worked with and trained with students and interns whom she trained in the world of work.
She holds an MBA with Henley Business School Africa, which she completed in 2023. Carol also studied at UNISA, earning a Bachelor of Honours Degree in Integrated Organisational Communication in 2017 and a Communications Science (non-degree purposes) qualification in 2015. She also qualified with a Public Relations Diploma from the University of Johannesburg (South Africa) in 1997.
