DBA Research Topic:
Identity and Ethnic Minority Representation on UK Charity Boards
My research explores the underrepresentation of ethnic minorities as trustees on UK charity boards, emphasising individual perspectives over organisational views. Existing literature predominantly focuses on the organisational perspective, remains inconclusive and is US-centric. Key debates include whether systemic barriers, such as racial discrimination, socioeconomic status, and lack of equity, hinder trustee participation. Utilising Identity Theory, the research examines how the identities of Black and Asian ethnic minorities shape their decisions regarding voluntary engagement as Trustees.
