Dr Christoph Burtscher

Dr Christoph Burtscher is a Lecturer in AI Transformation at Henley Business School. His work focuses on how Henley Business School and organisations in general adopt, govern and work with artificial intelligence in responsible, effective and human centred ways. He combines academic research with extensive senior leadership experience to bridge theory and practice in digital and AI transformation.

Christoph teaches across Henley’s postgraduate and executive education programmes and supervises DBA candidates working on topics related to digital transformation, AI strategy, and governance. He also supports the School’s wider adoption of AI in teaching, research and academic practice, contributing to Henley’s ambition to lead in responsible AI education.
His research examines the organisational and societal implications of AI, with particular interests in digital and AI deviance, AI fairness and governance, deepfakes and synthetic media, and human–AI interaction. His work explores how individuals and organisations appropriate, resist and repurpose emerging technologies, and the consequences this has for trust, accountability and decision making.

Before entering academia, Christoph held senior executive roles including Chief Transformation Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Digital Officer, leading large scale digital and AI transformations across multiple sectors. This experience informs his teaching, research and doctoral supervision, grounding academic insight in real organisational practice.
