Dr Xinrui Zhan is a Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at Henley Business School, University of Reading, and a Fellow of Advance HE (FHEA). Her research focuses on how family businesses’ temporal orientation influences their entrepreneurial activities, responsible behaviour and adaptive capacity.

Xinrui’s research focuses on how temporal orientation in family businesses shapes their entrepreneurial activities, responsible behaviour and adaptive capacity, drawing on institutional and behavioural perspectives and applying quantitative methods to large-scale longitudinal datasets. Her work has been published in Family Business Review and presented at conferences including the Academy of Management Annual Meeting, and has received Best Paper Awards at the International Symposium on Entrepreneurship and Family Business. She is an editorial board member of Management and Organization Review and a reviewer for several leading journals. Prior to joining Henley Business School, Xinrui was a Lecturer in Strategic Management at the University of Bedfordshire, and she was also a visiting researcher at INSEAD’s Europe campus. She received her PhD in Entrepreneurship Management from Zhejiang University in 2023, where she was named an Outstanding PhD Graduate of the province by its Department of Education.
