John Prendergast is a technology executive and educator with more than 30 years of leadership experience as a Chief Information Officer (CIO) across Europe and Asia. Throughout his career, he has led major IT and digital transformation programmes within the retail, supply chain, logistics, telecommunications, and manufacturing industries. As a lecturer, executive coach, and mentor, he brings extensive real-world experience into the classroom, helping students bridge the gap between academic theory and professional practice while preparing them for successful careers in the digital economy.

John's career spans senior technology and business leadership roles, providing experience in digital transformation, information systems, supply chain technology, and organisational change. His professional development includes qualifications in PRINCE2 and ITIL, as well as certification in Ontological Coaching, Leadership, and Mentoring. His teaching and professional interests include digital transformation, technology leadership, business strategy, business process improvement, organisational change, and leadership development. He is particularly interested in how organisations can successfully integrate technology, people, and processes to achieve sustainable business outcomes. His teaching philosophy centres on combining academic theory with practical industry experience, enabling students to develop the professional, technical, and leadership capabilities required for successful careers in today's digital economy. Alongside his teaching, John works as an executive coach and mentor and volunteers with The King's Trust, supporting young people as they transition into employment, higher education, and entrepreneurship.
