Dr Julia Carden is a visiting tutor on the MSc in Executive Coaching and Behavioural Change, the Professional Certificate in Executive Coaching and Professional Certificate in Coaching Supervision. She’s an accredited Master Practitioner Coach with the EMCC, Professional Certified Coach with the ICF and an accredited Coaching Supervisor.
Outside of her tutoring role at Henley Julia runs a Coaching and Coaching Supervision Practice, working with a cross-section of leaders across the public and private sector. Julia works by focusing on helping her clients gain greater self-awareness, encouraging them to explore hidden potential and aspects of their character to be at their best. She draws on a wide range of psychological dimensions in her work; in particular Time to Think, Gestalt and psychodynamic approaches.
Julia’s particular area of interest is self-awareness and her doctoral research explored the “role of self-awareness in coach development”. The research findings highlighted how self-awareness supports coaches to develop their own self-connection, which is a pre-requisite to client connection. With this in mind the question Julia is currently thinking about is “how much more is possible with self-acceptance?”
She is passionate about her own CPD and regularly takes part in coaching supervision and engages in on-going learning.
Outside of work Julia enjoys spending time with her husband and son, in particular supporting her son in his developing career as an eventing rider.
