- The policy-making process of land value capture policy in Jakarta
After graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering in Urban and Regional Planning in 2004, I began my career as a junior consultant at a property consultancy in Jakarta. I then pursued further study in Urban Environmental Management. After completing my master's in Urban Environmental Management in 2008, I worked as a sanitation planner in a collaborative programme between the World Bank and the Government of Indonesia. Following my time in the private sector, I decided to work in public service and worked as an urban infrastructure planner at the Jakarta Provincial Government for nearly 10 years.
My interest in the policy-making process of land value capture grew from my experience working at the Development and Environment Bureau of the Jakarta Provincial Government. I had an opportunity to pursue a master's programme in Planning and Public Policy in 2016, and this interest in land value capture policy is reflected in my master's thesis, which analyses developers' willingness to pay for a Floor Area Ratio (FAR) bonus in Jakarta.
