Professor Jeremy Spencer received his PhD from King’s College London in 1997 and is Professor of Nutritional Biochemistry and Medicine at the University of Reading. His research explores how flavonoids and other polyphenols found in fruits, vegetables, and beverages promote brain and cardiovascular health. His work focuses on their role in regulating cellular signalling pathways that enhance blood flow, protect against neurotoxins, reduce neuroinflammation, and support memory and cognitive function. Professor Spencer is a member of the BBSRC’s Basic Bioscience Underpinning Health Strategy Advisory Panel, Editor-in-Chief of Nutrition and Aging, and has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers.
