We have 32 scholarships available for PhD students for entry in 2019. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of outstanding academic merit. To find out more please review the information below for each of our academic areas. Please note that closing dates for scholarships differ between the different areas.

Business Informatics, Systems & Accounting - full scholarship

Subject

For PhDs in Business Informatics, Systems & Accounting

Criteria

Applicants must have a good undergraduate degree in a relevant subject and a Master’s degree, preferably at distinction level. Applicants must submit a research proposal and be able to supply two reference letters.

Finance

These scholarships cover full fees and £15,000 stipend for 1 year. It is renewable for a further 2 years subject to performance.

Duration

1 year, renewable for a further 2 years subject to performance.

End date information

Scholarships are allocated on a rolling basis based on the following deadlines: 28 February 2019, 26 April 2019, 24 June 2019 and 9 August 2019.

PhD programmes

Business Informatics, Systems & Accounting - partial scholarship

Subject

For PhDs in Business Informatics, Systems & Accounting

Criteria

Applicants must have a good undergraduate degree in a relevant subject and a Master’s degree, preferably at distinction level. Applicants must submit a research proposal and be able to supply two reference letters.

Finance

Partial scholarships starting at £5,000.

Duration

1 year, renewable for a further 2 years subject to performance.

End date information

Scholarships are allocated on a rolling basis based on the following deadlines: 28 February 2019, 26 April 2019, 24 June 2019 and 9 August 2019.

International Business & Strategy

Subject

For PhDs in International Business & Strategy

Criteria

Applicants must have a good undergraduate degree in a relevant subject and a Master’s degree, preferably at distinction level. Applicants must submit a research proposal and be able to supply two reference letters.

Finance

These scholarships cover full fees and £15,000 stipend for 1 year. It is renewable for a further 2 years subject to performance.

Duration

1 year, renewable for a further 2 years subject to performance.

End date information

Scholarships are allocated on a rolling basis, apply as early as possible, final deadline for applications – 15 June.

Finance & Capital Markets

Subject

For PhDs in Finance & Capital Markets (ICMA Centre).

Criteria

Applicants must have a good undergraduate degree in a relevant subject and a Master’s degree, preferably at distinction level. Applicants must submit a research proposal and be able to supply two reference letters.

Finance

These scholarships cover full fees and £15,000 stipend for 1 year. It is renewable for a further 2 years subject to performance.

Duration

1 year, renewable for a further 2 years subject to performance.

End date information

Scholarships are allocated on a rolling basis, apply as early as possible, final deadline for applications is 30 June 2019.

Subject

For PhDs in Leadership, Organisations & Behaviour

Criteria

Applicants must have a good undergraduate degree in a relevant subject and a Master’s degree, preferably at distinction level. Applicants must submit a research proposal and be able to supply two reference letters.

These scholarships cover full fees and £15,000 stipend for 1 year. It is renewable for a further 2 years subject to performance.

Duration

1 year, renewable for a further 2 years subject to performance.

End date information

Scholarships are allocated on a rolling basis, apply as early as possible, final deadline for applications – 30 June 2019.

Marketing & Reputation

Subject

For PhDs in Marketing & Reputation

Criteria

Applicants must complete a formal application to the Marketing & Reputation PhD Programme, and be in receipt of an offer before applying for a studentship.

Applicants are to have achieved (or be expected to achieve) a Distinction at Masters level or equivalent, including a distinction in a dissertation or thesis.

Finance

These scholarships cover full fees and £15,000 stipend for 1 year - renewable for a further 2 years subject to performance

Duration

1 year, renewable for a further 2 years subject to performance (max. 3 years from initial registration)

End date information

Scholarships are awarded after review by panel, final deadline for applications is 30th April 2019
