Improvement Leader Apprenticeship (ILA) (Level 6)

Programme duration Training charges – cost per apprentice
23 months, including EPA £15,000

The University will deliver an Executive Diploma in Managing Business Transformation.

The Henley Executive Diploma in Managing Business Transformation (Level 6 Improvement Leader Apprenticeship) aims to develop the capabilities of employees who are involved in improvement activities and also of those who are responsible for developing/leading improvement strategy, providing leadership in improvement for the business and for coaching and supporting Improvement Specialists in advanced analysis.

The Programme has been designed to enable learners to meet the L6 Improvement Leader Apprenticeship Standard, with a clear focus on the application of learning in the workplace.

The Programme is designed to enable learners to gain the required nine knowledge, 23 skills and five behaviour areas to achieve this award. The programme has been designed with the learner’s need to achieve the Standard at its heart. Thus, the programme is grouped into three main streams which are delivered in three stages. In this way, the students have the opportunity to engage in the knowledge, skills, and behaviour areas of each stream in each stage. Each stage, therefore, comprises the main elements of the development of an improvement strategy, while Henley Apprenticeship Learning Coaches can monitor the student's progress on their journey to produce their portfolio of evidence required for the end-point assessment. Students will also follow the Skills for Best Practice module during the programme which is a standard module for all apprenticeship programmes.

Streams Stage 1 Stage 2 Stage 3
Leading direction Strategic thinking Teams and leadership Project and change management
Process improvement Process management Problem solving methods Improvement methods and strategies
Data-driven measurement Measurement Systems Data analysis Experimentation and optimisation

The End-Point Assessment at the end involves a professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence, dissertation, presentation, and questioning.

The Programme will enable students to have a high level of expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, and Project and Change Management principles and methodologies. The students will benefit from blended teaching and learning opportunities (Action Learning-based Workshops, Online tutorials and resources (Canvas), learning coach interactions, professional learning portfolio, and reflections), application of learning in the workplace, implementation of tools/techniques/methodologies learned through work-based projects, and continuous 360 reviews of the student's progress (student-employer-HBS) throughout the programme.

Programme awards:

1. Students that successfully pass the L6 Improvement Leader Apprenticeship End Point Assessment will be awarded the L6 Improvement Leader Apprenticeship Certificate.
