Start-up Visa Endorsement
If you are a recent University of Reading or Henley Business School graduate from outside the UK, but wish to remain in the country, you have the chance to do so by applying for the Henley Centre for Entrepreneurship (HCfE) Start-up Visa endorsement scheme.
This endorsement allows graduates from outside the EEA and Switzerland who are endorsed by the University of Reading as having developed genuine and credible business ideas and entrepreneurial skills to develop their business ideas and establish their businesses in the UK.
To obtain a Start-up Visa, the student will need to be endorsed by the University of Reading alongside meeting other requirements as specified by UK Visas and Immigration. The University of Reading is able to offer up to 10 endorsements in the current fiscal year ending 5 April 2021. Please note that the only form of visa HCfE can endorse is the Start-up Visa.
Application is only open to applicants who have been awarded a degree by the University of Reading or Henley Business School in the 12 months immediately prior to the date of endorsement. Business partners in the venture do not need to be University of Reading graduates.
If the graduate wants the University of Reading to endorse his/her application for a Start-up Visa, they will have to demonstrate that they have a genuine and credible business idea. On top of that, the graduate will need to demonstrate their commitment to spending the majority of their working time on developing their business idea.
In seeking endorsement by the University of Reading, the graduate should read the policy governing application for endorsement under Start-up Visa and submit an application. The policy and application form can be accessed here.
