Coaching With Personality - Dr Angelina Bennet

As I coach, I often use assessments depending on the issues arising for the client. However, where possible, I like to use Myers-Briggs’ Personality Type with my clients at the start of the engagement as I find it incredibly helpful in many ways, including:

• providing a language to quickly explain complex concepts
• getting to the root of where ‘conflicts’ are occurring and why
• seeing and understanding other people’s perspectives
• looking at where we are at our best and what stresses us
• tapping into our motivation and unrealised potential

Additionally, as a coach, being aware of our own type helps us to recognise where we may have biases, blind spots or temptation to collude.
