Sarah Winckless, MBE

Sarah Winckless has extensive experience working with both individuals and teams. Her focus is on driving sustainable competitive advantages for organisations by enabling each team member to reach their full potential while contributing to the overall group direction.
Sarah’s approach transforms differences into dynamic strengths. She leverages the unique backgrounds and perspectives of her team members to foster creativity and drive innovation. By embracing diversity, she turns potential challenges into opportunities for growth and excellence.
In addition to her coaching work, she served as Chef de Mission for Team England in 2018, leading a team of over 400 athletes and 150 support staff during the Commonwealth Games. Notably, in 2021, she became the first female umpire for the Men’s Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race. Sarah has also contributed as a non-executive director, including serving on the UK Anti-Doping Board.
Sarah’s personal achievements are equally remarkable. While studying at Cambridge, she excelled in netball, athletics, basketball, and rowing, earning the highest-level award (a Cambridge Blue) for each. After university, she focused on rowing and became an Olympic bronze medalist in 2004; she developed that performance with her team to become World Champion twice.
Sarah was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2015 for her contributions to sport and young people. Additionally, she is a passionate campaigner for Huntington’s disease charities, having tested positive for the gene mutation while at university.
Driven by her fascination with neuroscience and a belief in human potential, Sarah has found her calling as an executive leadership coach. Her diverse experiences uniquely position her to guide leaders toward success.
Sarah Winckless’s journey from elite athlete to influential coach and leader exemplifies her commitment to excellence, diversity and making a positive impact.
