Session Outline:
This week’s departmental seminar will be chaired by Dr Joe Lane and is a joint session featuring two of our advanced PhD students, Ishmael Ali Esson and Annabelle Brenes Flores. The seminar will be based not around traditional paper presentations, but around three higher-order questions that have been shared with our presenters in advance. These questions are designed to allow both Ishmael and Annabelle to present and discuss big ideas related to their research more broadly (as opposed to a singular paper or chapter) and how their work, approaches and arguments relate to managerial and policy implications, biases and blind spots in academic research, and the sources and data we use.
This seminar is an opportunity for both Ishmael and Annabelle to discuss their ideas in a slightly different manner and crucially in a context where they are not being assessed or examined.
