This webinar will be held on 26 September 2025 at 10:00am UK time via Zoom and is open to all JMCR members and collaborators. The speakers are Professor Kevin Money and Professor Carola Hillenbrand, Co-Directors of the John Madejski Centre for Reputation UK and Africa.

Hope is an essential ingredient in leadership, inspiring ourselves and others to positive action in good and bad times. In this interactive workshop, we will explore how leaders can build hope for themselves and their stakeholders. In a world where many feel overwhelmed by constant exposure to crisis - be it social, political or environmental - hope can feel elusive. Yet it is precisely in such times that cultivating hope becomes even more crucial: for individuals, communities, organisations and society at large.

This workshop draws on the JMCR's research, including work with leaders in South Africa's not-for-profit sector, who have found ways to maintain and inspire hope, even amidst negative press and persistent challenges.

At the end of the workshop participants will have:

- Explored theory and best practice about building and maintaining hope

- Created their own personal hope plots, reflecting their own 'hope journeys'

- Shared perspectives, experiences and stories of how you and others build and sustain hope

- Begun crafting a personal hope statement to guide future leadership of yourself and others

Whether you're seeking to strengthen your resilience, reconnect with purpose, or lead others through uncertainty, this session offers space to explore hope not just as an idea, but as a practice. Come curious. And we hope you will leave hopeful!

The JMCR Impact Partnership connects leaders from non-government organisations in South Africa with global leaders from Henley Business School's network. It exists to continue and extend the relationships built during the Reputation and Responsibility Immersion Visit and provides a trusted infrastructure for leaders to continue to share, develop and grow together, supporting one another and working on projects of their choice. In doing so, we aim to enhance the development of leaders and the positive social impacts they make. Our events are highly interactive, so please be ready to have a conversation with other participants during our online meetings.
