Description
Coaching continues to grow as part of a broader set of human resource development interventions. IBISWorld estimates that the business coaching sector is set to exceed $14.2 billion in the US, with an expected growth rate of 2.6 percent. With such sector growth comes the expansion of coaching modalities. Emerging trends include those highlighted by the International Coaching Federation’s 2019 report, Building Strong Coaching Cultures for the Future, and include peer, group and team coaching, as well as more systemic forms, typically integrated with other initiatives, such as talent management, culture change and mergers.
During this session participants will explore an emerging modality called ‘team leadership coaching’, which involves one-on-one executive coaching with a team leader (for an agreed duration) followed by partnering with them to coach their teams.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- name three strategic learning capabilities that inform the design and implementation of leadership team coaching engagements
- describe important distinctions between group and team coaching, along with areas where the two modalities overlap
- list the various disciplines that inform team leadership coaching engagements (such as adult learning, adult development, leadership, team effectiveness)
- outline personal action commitments for building a team leadership coaching capacity as part of their professional practice
