Henley achieves Athena Swan Silver Award
The Athena Swan Charter is a global accreditation that recognises and promotes gender equality in higher education and research.
Henley has been awarded the prestigious Athena Swan Silver Award, recognising its sustained commitment to advancing gender equality and creating an inclusive environment for staff and students.
This marks Henley’s first Silver accreditation, building on its previous Bronze award and reflecting significant progress in driving positive cultural and structural change. The Silver Award is valid until 28 February 2031.
Dr Miriam Marra, Co-Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) at Henley, said: “We are incredibly proud to have achieved this award. This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of teams across Henley who are committed to fostering equality, supporting career development and ensuring that our community can thrive.”
Dr Melissa Carr, Co-Director of EDI at Henley, added: “Moving from Bronze to Silver demonstrates the impact of our long-term initiatives and our continued determination to build a truly inclusive organisation. We look forward to delivering the next stage of our action plan.”
The Athena Swan Charter, run by Advance HE, celebrates good practice in higher education and research institutions that are working to advance gender equality. The Silver Award recognises evidence of positive change and the impact of actions taken over time.
Henley will continue implementing and evaluating its EDI initiatives as part of its ongoing Athena Swan action plan.
