University of Reading in top 200 of QS World University Rankings 2027
Employment outcomes for students, research impact and sustainability are key areas of performance
The University of Reading maintains its position in the world’s top 200 universities (joint 196) in the QS World University rankings 2027 for the fourth consecutive year, demonstrating consistent global competitiveness.
The ranking, which evaluates more than 1,500 institutions worldwide, puts Reading in the top 13% of global universities ranked by QS, reinforcing its status as a high-performing university on the international stage.
Domestically, it ranks 28th out of 93 UK institutions, placing it firmly within the upper tier of the national higher education system.
Several key performance indicators underpin this strong position. Graduate employability is a notable strength, with an employment rate of 92.3%, ranking 11th in the UK and reflecting strong outcomes for students entering the labour market.
Research impact is also a significant contributor to overall performance with citations per faculty ranked 12th nationally, indicating both the quality and influence of Reading’s research output.
Sustainability has emerged as a particularly distinctive area of excellence, placing Reading at 12th in the UK and in the top 30 globally, highlighting a strong institutional commitment to environmental and social responsibility.
