Start dates

The Henley Professional Certificate in Coaching was accredited by the ICF in July 2018 and is now known as the Henley Professional Certificate in Executive Coaching.

Responding to feedback from alumni who studied with us prior to this accreditation, we have negotiated a special arrangement with the ICF to offer this preparation programme. It is a unique opportunity to build on your existing Henley qualification and will prepare you for the ICF assessments that are an essential part of becoming an Associate Certified Coach

Key benefits

This programme is for Henley Professional Certificate in Coaching alumni who started their programme before September 2018. It is also suitable for those who completed the Foundations in Coaching module as part of their MSc in Coaching for Behavioural Change.

Anyone who started the Professional Certificate in Executive Coaching from September 2018 will have benefitted from the programme's ICF accreditation and will not need to attend this preparation programme.

Please contact us if you have any questions about your eligibility to attend this programme.

Group mentoring sessions

Group mentoring sessions will consist of one two-hour session per month and will be divided across two groups. You will be assigned to a group at the beginning of the programme and attend all the assigned dates with that group.

1:1 mentor coaching sessions

Your fee also includes three 1:1 mentor coaching sessions. These will be bookable with a tutor following the completion of the two-day workshop at a mutually convenient time.

The ICF Accreditation Preparation Programme will follow a similar model of teaching to the Professional Certificate in Coaching, with practical, experiential learning supported by online content.

The programme lasts three and a half months; in addition to two days of online-based workshops, this programme includes eight hours' virtual group mentor coaching and three hours' individual mentor coaching.

Programme content

Programme content is specifically tailored towards the ICF managed assessments, which include the ICF Knowledge Assessment (an online multiple choice exam) and an audio recording of a 30-minute coaching session.

Content will include:

  • Ethical practice
  • The coaching mindset
  • Establishing and maintaining agreements with the client, as well as other stakeholders
  • Cultivating trust and safety
  • Maintaining presence
  • Active listening
  • Evoking awareness
  • Facilitating client growth

Programme completion and next steps with the ICF

The Associate Certified Coach status assessment is fully independent of Henley and you will need to apply to the ICF to complete the assessment process.

Having completed the two-day workshop sessions and the requisite mentor coaching sessions, you will receive a certificate of completion for the Henley ICF Accreditation Preparation Programme.

This certificate, alongside your Professional Certificate in Coaching qualification, is submitted to the ICF prior to undertaking the ICF managed assessments.

There is no formal assessment by Henley during this preparation programme.

After the programme, you can continue your professional development and access a wealth of online resources by joining The Henley Centre for Coaching (fee payable).
