Greenlands campus
Set in sweeping parkland on the banks of the River Thames, Henley Business School's Greenlands campus provides an inspiring and reflective environment for focused work and study.
The History of Greenlands
Henley Business School began at Greenlands shortly after the Second World War, created to bring together public and private sector professionals, encourage the exchange of ideas, and develop future leadership skills.
Over time, its programmes and participants broadened. The first senior management course launched in 1968, followed in the 1970s by the introduction of Masters, MPhil and PhD programmes.
In the 1980s, the institution became Henley Management College, reflecting its growing focus on mid‑career management education. Scholarships were introduced for women in management and for head teachers. The Henley MBA launched in 1985 and soon expanded internationally, with programmes delivered in Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong and South Africa.
The 1990s saw the introduction of the college’s first undergraduate business degree, the BA in Management and Business Administration.
Shaping the future of business learning
Henley entered a new phase of its evolution in 2008 when Henley Management College merged with the University of Reading, creating a comprehensive portfolio of business education.
Today, Henley Business School’s undergraduate, postgraduate, professional and PhD programmes are delivered from the purpose‑built business school at Whiteknights, opened in 2009 while the Global E-MBA and Executive Education programmes run at Greenlands. The site includes modern lecture theatres, technology‑enhanced seminar rooms and a dedicated Business Library for student study and access to specialist resources.
