Placements

On some of our courses you can choose to do a 9 - 12 month placement in your third year, before returning to complete your final year at the Business School. This will be on your degree transcript and offers many benefits, including:

  • Considerably enhancing your CV
  • Gaining a wealth of knowledge, experience and transferable skills to set you on the right path for a successful career
  • Gaining industry insight
  • Earning a competitive salary whilst you learn
  • Testing an industry, sector or role to see if it's right for you

A successful placement can also lead to a job offer with your placement company upon graduation. You will also have many opportunities to develop excellent professional contacts that will stand you in good stead for the future.

If your degree does not offer the opportunity to take a 9 - 12 month placement, you could gain experience through a summer internship. This can also allow you to gain knowledge and insight to enhance your CV.

Henley Careers can provide you with expert advice and guidance – from helping you to choose the right placement, internship or graduate job, through to supporting you while working during your third year on placement.

What our students say

Josie Thomas, Marketing & Content Intern at The Walt Disney Company
Josie Thomas Disney
Josie Thomas's Placement at Disney
"I’d definitely recommend a placement year, as you’ll develop skills, experience and connections which will stand you in good stead when applying for graduate jobs.
I loved every minute of my marketing placement at Disney Music Group, from creating marketing assets for Frozen 2 & Star Wars, to helping out at incredible shows at Wembley Arena and the Royal Albert Hall. I always felt like a valued member of the team!
My advice would be to take advantage of the many opportunities available at Henley Business School, such as attending panels and joining societies. Also, to enlist the help of the careers team for advice on CV & cover letter improvement and support during the application process."

“A placement is something that I would absolutely recommend to anyone who would like to stand out from their peers when looking to a graduate program or job after university. You will leave with some amazing experiences and a lot of new knowledge. One experience that is memorable for me is getting to sit in an active fighter jet while learning about the products I was working with. If you would like to go for a placement in your third year the best thing you can do is start looking early, talk to the careers team about resumes and start looking at the experiences you have already had like extra-curricular activities before you came to university.”
