Description
Our organisations talk a lot about diversity of thinking as a goal, but do we walk the talk? Are we genuinely trying to foster and harness positive difference in our leaders, or are we stuck in a rut of hiring/promoting in our own image and trying to develop cookie-cutter leaders?
In this session, Professor Nick Kemsley will help you explore what it means to foster positive difference, and its impact on how we source, evaluate and develop the kind of leaders that our organisation needs, rather than those it often produces. This will have implications for how we set expectations for, assess, manage and career path future leaders.
Learning Outcomes
In this session you will learn:
- to critically evaluate your current leadership approaches in terms of the degree to which they foster or hinder positive difference in leaders
- the positive value creation in recruiting for difference
- how to consider different capabilities in your leaders which both support future needs and allow greater difference to be achieved
- some of the potential implications for your people processes and management practices
- how to bring value to your business by bringing diverse perspectives to the table, helping creativity and risk management and avoiding groupthink
Who is this for?
Any leader who genuinely wants to widen the scope, capability and performance of their team, by bringing in people with greater diversity of thought, perspective and opinion.
