Description
Many people haven’t heard of Maslow’s book Eupsychian Management. It’s not a catchy title, for sure. Maslow defined ‘eupsychia’ as the state that would exist if 1,000 self-actualised people lived uninterrupted on a desert island. And he believed that the workplace was the ideal setting for bringing this state into existence.
But what exactly are those conditions, and how do leaders and managers best create and maintain them?
In this session, we will explore and share:
- the science behind thriving and flourishing
- workplace conditions associated with intrinsic motivation, engagement, flow, wellbeing and optimal performance
- how the three core human psychological needs – for autonomy, relatedness and competence – map onto and deepen our understanding of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs
- how Seligman’s PERMA model can act as a framework to help managers create optimal conditions for human flourishing
- specific and actional steps for increasing levels of positive emotions, engagement, positive relationships, meaning and feelings of accomplishment at work
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this session, you will:
- understand the scientific definitions of wellbeing and flourishing
- understand more about the three core human psychological needs, and how they can best be met at work
- have learned about the 5 Pillars of Wellbeing and how the workplace can strengthen each
- have gained 10 tips for creating and maintaining workplaces where everyone can thrive and flourish
- know how to leverage 1:1s to help more people thrive and flourish at work
