What Does it Take to be a Successful Board Member? - Board Director's Programme

Join this session: Register for Henley Inside 2024

Over 70% of boards and their directors are not clear on the value they offer. The management and the rest of the organisation know this only too well. Having the IQ or the intellectual capacity to generate strategy and particularly to scrutinise the delivery of strategy is highly prized. The capacity to continually engage with multiple stakeholders especially when misalignments and disagreements abound is equally needed, but being smart and sensitive is of little worth when the individual is not clear about what they are doing on that board.

Board Director's Programme

About the Board Director's Programme

Delivered by business experts, academics and practitioners, the Board Directors' programme will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to become an effective board member.

Informed by Henley’s extensive global research, this programme will empower you to diagnose and respond to your board’s specific challenges. You’ll learn through stimulating practitioner-led sessions and high-profile guest speakers, while small yet diverse learning groups will give you a confidential forum in which to share your own experiences.

The Leadership: No More Heros session will be led by Professor David Pendleton. As a business psychologist, educator, consultant and author, David has published extensively on medical communication in healthcare and organisational leadership. As a consultant he has worked on four continents and in all sectors: commercial, public and charity.

High Performance Leadership Programme

About the High Performance Leadership Programme

During the High Performance Leadership programme you will discover that to be a complete leader, you need to be aware of your own limitations and to draw on the diversity of your team.

This programme explores how no one individual has the complete set of leadership skills. It enables you to identify and reflect on your natural leadership style, personality and behaviours. Then, with the support of a professional coach, you will agree on areas for development where your leadership shows potential or is fragile.

The programme is built around the Primary Colours® model, developed over 25 years of research by the Programme Director. This simple, memorable model helps clarify which leadership roles suit you and the tasks you need to perform to meet your specific leadership challenges.
