Ed Shepherd wins Research Output Prize
21 March 2019
We are very pleased to announce that Dr Edward Shepherd, Lecturer in Real Estate Development and Programme Area Director for our Undergraduate Programmes, has been awarded a Research Output Prize by the University of Reading. The Research Output Prize recognises and celebrates excellent research work by early career researchers and one prize is awarded annually for each of the University’s five Research Themes.
Ed was awarded the Prosperity & Resilience theme prize for his paper ‘Liberty, property and the state: The ideology of the institution of national English town and country planning’. Using historical methods and interviews with civil servants, politicians and practitioners, the paper explores the relationship between national political ideologies and changes to English town and country planning policy and legislation.
Professors Parveen Yaqoob and Dominik Zaum, Pro-Vice-Chancellors for Research and Innovation, said: “Congratulations to the five winners of this year’s Research Output Awards. These are five outstanding early career researchers and future research leaders, whose work not only addresses important challenges, but does so with great conceptual and methodological sophistication. As in previous years, the five winners came from a large pool of excellent submissions from across our research themes, and they underline the vibrancy as well as the breadth of the University’s research.”
