REP PhD student awarded grant from Peter Byrne Research Excellence Fund
Ijeoma Emeghe, a second year Real Estate & Planning PhD student, has recently been awarded a grant from the Peter Byrne Research Excellence Fund. Here, she talks about how the funding will help her research.
What I will use the funding for:
“The funding is solely for financing my fieldwork travel expenses in the United Kingdom, which enables me to access and collect reliable, quality data that will answer relevant research questions and allow valid evaluation of results. Overall, the grant will inform a strengthened dissertation and timely completion.”
What the award means for me:
“Being a beneficiary of the Reading Real Estate Foundation Peter Byrne Research Excellence Fund, for me means a strengthened opportunity to achieve my career goals, which would otherwise have proved difficult. The award is a great honour that I am deeply appreciative of and I consider myself very fortunate. It allows my continued commitment and dedication to my research, and offers unlimited future opportunities.”
The Reading Real Estate Foundation (RREF) is a registered charity and has been set up to provide support for real estate and planning education at Henley Business School, University of Reading. The Peter Byrne Research Excellence Fund has been set up to enable PhD students to further their research by purchasing data or undertaking fieldwork that would not otherwise be possible. Peter Byrne, Head of School of Real Estate & Planning until January 2015, was passionate about creating high quality PhD research and the impact it has on the whole department and faculty, and this fund has been set up to maintain that legacy.
