REP Academics Awarded UROP Funding
28 February 2020
Real Estate & Planning academics have been awarded funding from the University of Reading's Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP) for two research projects. UROP provides funding for placements which give students the opportunity to gain real research experience with academic staff at the university.
Henry Russell and Angelique Chettiparamb’s research project, ‘Drawing a Pint’, will investigate local industry influences on town development through a case study of the Brakspear Brewery site, Henley-on-Thames. The successful student applicant will conduct archival and documentary research, scrutinise planning applications and drawings, and participate in on-site fieldwork to understand the context of the site and existing buildings.
Pin-Te Lin and Jorn van de Wetering’s research project, ‘Inflation Hedging and Monetary Policy in US Housing Markets’, aims to better understand how the observed inflation hedging benefits in housing change, when inflation is under control by the government. The successful student will assist with the literature review, conduct data analysis and will assist in the writing up of the final report.
Applications for these fantastic opportunities are now open, with the work on both projects due to take place during the summer holiday period.
