Reading Entepreneurship Society Jurek speaking

The conference kicked off with an inspiring keynote speech by Phil Roe, President of Logistics UK. Roe shared invaluable lessons from his career, emphasising the importance of maintaining a positive attitude, listening to others, and steering clear of arrogance. His insights set the tone for a day filled with motivational stories and practical advice.

Following Roe's keynote, a dynamic panel discussion featured four remarkable entrepreneurs: Krystle McGilvery, Founder of Mind Over Money; Sandrijn Stead, Founder of CapametriX; Tim Goodwin, award-winning baker and founder of The Street Bakeshop; and Blessing Mutamba, a TEDx speaker and owner of a charitable trust in Zimbabwe.

Moderated by Sam Hirsch, President of the Entrepreneurship Society, the panellists shared their journeys, highlighting the importance of following one's passion, embracing an entrepreneurial mindset exemplified by ‘just do it’, and having fun along the way.

The speakers captivated the audience with their diverse experiences and insights. McGilvery discussed the significance of financial literacy and mental well-being, Stead shared his innovative approach to data analytics, Goodwin recounted his path to becoming a successful baker, and Mutamba inspired with her dedication to charitable work in Zimbabwe.

The conference concluded with a powerful closing keynote speech by Blessing Mutamba.

She posed the thought-provoking question, "What does change mean to you?" prompting a range of responses from the audience including "opportunity" and "challenge."

Mutamba left attendees reflecting on the concept of change, emphasising the mantra, "the only constant is change".

The event was described as truly amazing, with attendees praising the inspiring stories and valuable insights shared by the speakers. The conference provided a unique opportunity for students to network with industry leaders and fellow entrepreneurs, fostering connections that continued into the night.

The University of Reading Entrepreneurship Society Annual Conference supported by the Henley Enterprise Lab was a resounding success, celebrating the theme of change and empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs.
