Our aim at Henley Careers is to empower and enable you to leave the Business School confident in being able to progress your career forward successfully.
We are committed to enable you to take a strong career leadership approach to your career planning. We will work with you to help you understand yourself better, as well as truly understand the obstacles and opportunities around you. Research both at Henley and other leading Business Schools shows that people who are self-reliant and are ‘career-activists’ usually achieve higher levels of success. We therefore encourage your job search to be driven by you and your needs, but along the way, we provide you with advice and insight regarding your strategy.
What can you do with our service?
Meet with a Career Consultant – book in with your careers consultant to discuss any careers-related topic. We will support you in gaining a better understanding of what really matters for you personally, how you can plan your career autonomously, or assist you in making tough decisions at times of uncertainty. We can also take a quick look at your CV / application or assist you with improving your interview and assessment performance.
Sign up to a Lunchtime Careers Workshop– The Lunchbox Careers Workshop Programme is a series of workshops open to all Henley students to discover insights into different Industries and job functions, build your self-awareness and develop personal skills as well as get practical hints and tips on job application and assessment. Go to MyJobsOnline to see the programme of events and sign up to attend any of these lunchtime events.
Network at The Monday Night Employer Panel - come along and question companies from a selection of industries; from City Finance to Sales & Marketing! This is prime opportunity for you to network with these businesses and understand more about their sectors by quizzing them on topics of interest to you - from how to get in, to a day in the life of their employees.
Attend timetabled Careers Teaching – attend teaching sessions specifically timetabled for you. Topics have been tailored to support those of you preparing to apply for graduate positions or separately for those of you with previous work experience and seeking employment as an experienced candidate.
Network at employer events – attend our events when various employers will be on site to talk to you about their companies, industries and opportunities, and answer your questions.
Access our online career resources 24/7/365 – visit the Henley Careers blackboard site for online support – we provide you with a wealth of information to support you through every stage of the careers process.
Apply for jobs through MyJobsOnline – visit the University’s job board and search through the database of job adverts. Many employers specifically aim to attract applicants from Henley Business School and advertise with us.
Attend the Business Leaders programme – get involved with the Business Leaders programme and develop your understanding of leadership, entrepreneurship and personal development through a series of stimulating workshops and networking opportunities.

Henley Careers Blog
We’re pleased to announce the launch of the Henley Careers Blog. The blog is a way for the Careers team to share thoughts about various careers practices, and respond to related business and recruitment news.
Autumn Term – Open Workshops and Employer Panels
As part of our commitment to offer experiences that appeal to all learning styles, throughout the Autumn Term we’ll be delivering 4 lunchtime workshops per week. These workshops will cover all aspects of Careers – for example understanding careers in differing sectors and industries, learning ways to succeed in applications and selection, and developing an understanding of your strengths.
We are also arranging many events with employers – a cornerstone of this approach will be the Monday Night Employer Panel. At these events, a number of themed employers will come together to discuss careers options and realities in both an Q&A session, and informal networking.
These optional activities will sit alongside our current offerings of 1-2-1 appointments, course specific workshops, and embedded careers modules.

The Henley Careers Launch Event – March 2015
To mark the launch of the new Team, Henley Careers welcomed MBA students to an informative and entertaining talk by Bill Payne, who is a Venture Capitalist, Non-Executive Director, Business School Lecturer and former senior manager at IBM.
The event was co-organised by the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce, and following the talk attendees networked over canapés – an excellent opportunity to learn from a successful business manager, and then practice those all-important networking skills.

Ernst and Young
Placement Fair – held annually every October for students interested in placements/internships only. Spaces are limited and get booked up by July/August.
Corporate Presentations – the best time of year runs from October through to February. Students love interactive skills seminars where they can learn more about the company culture and meet with staff.
Employer Panels – held every Monday evening to a targeted group of students. Ideal panellists normally include recruiters from different companies within the same sector or function eg City Finance or Marketing.
Guest Lectures – a great way to have access to students from a specific degree programme and be seen to be contributing your thought leadership to Henley.
On Campus Interviews – you can pre-select the candidates you’d like to interview and we can take care of the logistics.
Competitions/Games – we are happy to promote any competitions you are running at the national, international level and also those that are specific to Henley only.
Case Studies – a fantastic method of engaging student talent and awareness of your brand. Can be run as a workshop or competition.
Student Societies – we work very closely with the Entrepreneurship, Business, Finance and Bright Futures societies and would be happy to make an introduction.
Office treks – we can arrange student trips to visit corporate offices. Specific degree programmes or career interest groups can be targeted.
CV Books – we provide these for our full time MBA students only.
