The Society is entirely student-led and was launched by HCfE in 2014, in partnership with Reading University Students' Union (RUSU). It is the biggest non-sport society on campus and runs several events throughout the academic year, including guest speaker talks, lectures and more. Most significant is the Entrepreneurship Conference, a networking event launched in 2020 that featured several successful business leaders sharing their insights on starting and growing a business. The Society Presidents for the 2020/21 academic year are Karin Zhang-Wei, who studies on the BA Management and Business course, and Sarah Mohd-Hasilizan, a BSc Biomedical Sciences student. To find out about the full committee, read the full news release here.
Speaking about her appointment as President, Karin said: "From an entrepreneurial perspective, the ongoing pandemic offers more opportunities than obstacles. We intend to bring together the most innovative, creative and open minds, which will equip the students for their coming entrepreneurial journeys."
Sarah added: "Running the Entrepreneurship Society will be a huge responsibility and challenge. Everyone should have the essence of an entrepreneur - I believe what makes an excellent entrepreneur is someone who gives back to the community in different aspects, such as money, education and knowledge."
